Ken Hautmann — Chairman
Ken has been on our Board of Directors since 2014. He moved from Long Island, NY, to the Tampa Bay Area in 2001 and has worked on Treasure Island since 2004. He was the General Manager and Food and Beverage Director for Sloppy Joe’s and the Bilmar Beach Resort and in 2009 he became the General Manager for The Club at Treasure Island. In 2013 Ken was named General Manager of Caddy’s on the Beach. Currently, Ken is the General Manager of Buoy’s Waterfront Bar and Grill on St. Pete Beach. Ken was the chairman of our inaugural Benefit Golf Tournament in 2017 and maintained a leadership role in the event in 2018 and 2019.
Barry Rubin — Vice Chairman
Barry has served on our Board since 2019. He founded Direct HR in 1996 to “level the playing field for small business owners,” who often don’t have the means to keep up with the changing Human Resources landscape. He is a past president of the Gulfport Chamber of Commerce, and has held membership in the St. Petersburg Area Chamber.
JJ Buggle — Vice Chairman
JJ joined our Board in 2019, after being recognized as our Ambassador of the Year. He retired from the St. Petersburg Police Department in 2001 and, after a career that ran the gamut from patrol officer to detective, to interrogation and high-pursuit driving instructor, joined the staff of Admiral Farragut Academy in 2002. There, he ran security operations until being named Community Outreach Director in 2017. JJ chairs our new Leads Group, and his goal for our Chamber is to grow our membership by 25% in 2020.
Carol Coward — Treasurer
Carol has served as our Treasurer since 2015. She has served as Treasurer of the Gulf Beaches Rotary Club since 2007, and the Treasure Island Historical Society since 2010. She holds a degree in Accounting from the University of Colorado, and brings more than 50 years’ experience in accounting and tax work to her volunteer activities. A reading and history buff, Carol enjoys playing tennis and being involved in our community.
Bill Karns — Past Chairman
Bill is the President of William E. Karns Enterprises. He has been in the construction business for over 30 years and is involved hands-on with all company building and development projects. Bill has spearheaded the company’s expansion into development projects and is responsible for the facilitation of business alliances and the generation of capital resources.
Missy H. Hahn — President (non-voting)
Missy served on the board of the Hospitality, Sales & Marketing Association and as Regional Manager for the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association, where she was responsible for all aspects of events and sales for the Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Manatee county chapters. She served as President of the Board of Directors for Tampa Bay Women in Tourism from 2006 – 2015.
Jill Dunavin — Secretary (non-voting)
Laurie joined our Board in 2020. She is the Co-Owner of Sunset Inn & Cottages and 6West Beach Cottages (both boutique vacation rental properties), along with her newest project, The West Events, a blank slate venue perfect for weddings, corporate events, mitzvahs or any special occasions. As a former collegiate softball pitcher and SEC Champion, Laurie graduated from The University of Georgia with a dual degree in Child and Family Development and Special Education. She has called Treasure Island home since 2014 and loves spending her free time cycling, boating, and traveling.
Joe is President of Dise Wealth Management, Inc., a company founded in 1993. He joined our Chamber in 2015, and within a year was tapped to serve on our Executive Board. He supports both the United Way and PARC, and he works to improve the economic impact of the TIMB Chamber for its member businesses. He served as Chairman of our Board in 2018.
Louis joined our Board in 2020. He is the Director of Operations for Dag Bros., Inc., the Real Estate and Hospitality Development Firm responsible for projects such as Sculley’s and The Hut in John’s Pass; Captain Bill’s Gulfside Tavern, The Treasure Island Ocean Club, and Sandalwood Beach Resort; and various other properties across the East Coast. Following degree studies from Ithaca College in Jazz Studies, Voice, and Vocal Performance, he spent most of his professional career opening restaurants across the country with the CraftWorks Restaurant & Brewery Group, BBRG, and Fox Restaurant Concepts, as well as his own consulting firm. He now happily calls the St. Pete area “home.”
Kathleen brings a strong background in business and community service to the Board. She is the President of Friendly Fisherman, LLC, and Treasurer of Hubbard Enterprises. She is active with the John’s Pass Village Assocition, and was twice Pinellas Chapter of the Florida Restaurant Association. Kathleen is a founding member of Keep St. Pete Lit, and a founding member of the Miracle League Baseball Team of Pinellas County, which provides sporting opportunities for physically and mentally challenged youth.
Jeff was our Ambassador of the Year for 2019, and joined our Board in 2020. He is the Regional Vice President of Primerica, and a retired Pinellas County Sheriff’s Deputy. A Miami, FL, native, he moved to Pinellas County in 1988 and has immersed himself in a variety of volunteer activities over the years, including Habitat for Humanity, scouting, and his (now adult) children’s high school events. He is an active member of the Pinellas Park Civic Orchestra and the Dunedin Music Society, and will soon be an adjunct instructor at the Police Academy at St. Petersburg College.
Mark is the Founder and Chief Idea Officer of Revenue Generating Activities, featuring “Wall Street networking at Main Street pricing.” He first joined our Board in 2019. Since February 2010, he has grown RGA to be 800+ members strong, with members meeting in weekly chapters throughout Florida. Mark is continually on the go, and supports a variety of local charities like Women With Purpose, Love Thy Neighbor, and Habitat for Humanity. He was instrumental in helping us launch our first-ever Merry Beach Market at R.O.C. Park in Madeira Beach.
Erik is the Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Life Improvement Media, Inc. His early career put him on the front lines of digital communications, selling multi-million dollar installations for Alltell. As an entrepreneur, he is an innovator in a variety of branding modalities. He is a recognized resource for website development, local search, and SEO. Through his company’s subsidiary, Helium Radio Network, Erik helps his clients establish themselves as experts through regularly scheduled podcasts.
Marcus joined our Board in 2020. Born in Ireland, he came to the USA in 1994. He studied Hotel and Restaurant Management and graduated from Southern New Hapshire University. Marcus worked in hospitality in Connecticut and New York before moving to Florida in 2007. He is an owner/operator of Sunpubs which comprises vacation rentals and three restaurant concepts: Mac Dinton’s Irish Pubs, Yard of Ale, and Caddy’s Waterfront dining with locations on Treasure Island, Indian shores, Bradenton, Gulfport and (in the near future) Madeira Beach. Says Marcus, “I am very fortunate to be able to call Treasure Island home.”
